At the invitation of Houston royalty -- Lynn Wyatt, the series' chair emeritus -- guests listened, enthralled, as Darren McGrady, who once worked as the late Princess Diana's chef, prefaced each delectable course -- each a royal favorite -- with a story about life at the palace where it was served.
Whether pairing an anecote about Kensington Palace with minted pea soup, bon mots about Balmoral Castle with beef tenderloin steaks or a Sandringham House story with sticky toffee pudding, the now-Dallas-based McGrady had guests eating out of his hand. And each guest left with a personally autographed copy of Eating Royally, McGrady's book of recipes and remembrances.
Fondly feasting: Sue and Lester Smith, Susie and Sanford Criner, Denise and Philip Bahr, Michelle and Frank Hevrdejs, Sofia Adrogué and Sten Gustafson -- celebrating their 18th anniversary in style -- Dina Alsowayel and Tony Chase, Phoebe Tudor with Milton Townsend, Bradford Wyatt and the series' founding director Scott Brogan.
